Children of all ages are welcome to stop the frenzy for a moment and indulge in wonder and joy.

With love,
The Advent Angel
(or Elfie for those who know me best)

What if He came,
On a night that was chilly,
To a downtown retreat,
On the west side of Philly?

Would the angels still sing,
Would the sky fill with light?
Would the cops on their beat,
Be surprised at the sight?

Would they text the retreat,
Then check on the stat?
Could a Saviour be born,
In a hovel like that?

I think they would know,
As their toes came uncurled,
That the scene they just witnessed,
Would soon knock their world

It’s a week before Christmas.
We all need to shop.
We need to wrap gifts,
And we all need to stop!

If just for a moment,
Breathe deep, think of slowing,
                                    And think about Jesus,
                                      Before you get going.

                                                                                                                                                              Love you

This little light of mine

Starlight star bright,
I know the stars are there tonight,
Though snow is falling cold and white,
And keeps the twinkles out of sight.

Starlight star bright,
I know the star shone bright that night,
When Wise Men from the East took flight,
And Mary held her baby tight.

                                                                   Love,
                                                                                    Elfie

Popcorn and Cranberries

Isn’t it a funny thing,
To stab some popcorn to a string,
And add some berries to the thing,
And wrap it round the tree.

I think for reasons I don’t know,
I like the sparkle and the glow,
I even sometimes like the snow,
That rides on top of me.

See me there behind the branches?
I hope your day sparkles brightly!

Musical Spirit

I love to hear the violin,
Its tones are sweet yet haunting,
But you won’t hear me playing, no!
To practice it seems daunting!

The choir wouldn’t let me,
With wings they blocked their ears,
And so I left the thing alone,
The last two thousand years.

I thought I’d try the flute instead,
It made my halo wiggle,
The trouble was I danced so much,
I made the others giggle.

So I’ll just sing my hearty tunes,
And write my little rhymes,
And spread the Christmas Spirit,
Like I’ve done so many times.
Love,
Elfie

THE ONE STAR INN

When Jesus came down,
To Bethlehem town,
The Bethlehem Inn was no Hilton,
No soap by the sink,
And no soda to drink,
Not even a quilt in the built-in.

Instead of a bed,
For the sweet baby’s head,
He was laid in some hay in a manger,
And wrapped in some cloth,
Between Him and the troth,
To keep Him from cold and from danger.

You may think this a shame,
For a King when he came,
To arrive in a one star hotel,
But the star in their book,
Brought the whole world to look,
And gave us a story to tell.
                                                                                                Love,
                                                                                                Elfie

It’s December eleven,
And up here in heaven,
Excitement is starting to build.
For it’s only two weeks,
For us heavenly *geeks,
To prepare for our great celebration.

We’ll remember the night,
When our wings all took flight,
To watch as the king that we love,
Came to earth to be born
On a frosty cold morn,
To a mother who held him so tight.

And the reason for such,
Is He loved you so much,
And He wanted to love you forever,
So He came to be near,
All the kids He held dear,
And the hearts that He wanted to touch.
                                                             Love,
                                                                                                            Elfie

Chocolate cookies and ice cream with sprinkles,
Marshmallow cocoa and whipped cream with wrinkles,
Gingerbread people with buttons of white,
This is the stuff of my favorite night.

I think that I will never be, as wise a one as was these 3,
Who dropped their world to chase a star, and didn’t even have a car.

I wonder...

Candle light,
And Christmas trees,
And Christmas carols playing.
Angels in the manger scene,
Along with Mary praying.

Stars so bright,
And branches dark,
The trees are gently swaying,
Moving to the Christmas tune,
I wonder what they're saying.
                                     love you…

Theres something deep in my old heart,
It’s who I am in every part,
It makes my thoughts; it flys my wings,
It makes me love ten thousand things.

I think you know, I think you feel it,
Something called the Christmas Spirit,
Something that no mall has matched,
And has to have some love attached!
                                                          Love,
                                                          Elfie

Lights on the Christmas tree,
Starlight on top,
Old favorite ornaments,
Dangle and drop.

Bring back the feelings,
Of wonder and joy,
When down in your stocking,
You felt a cool toy.

And played through the evening,
And crawled into bed,
With paper and ribbon,
Attached to your head.

WHEN STARS SANG TOGETHER,
AND ANGELS TOOK WING,
TO WELCOME THE BIRTH,
OF THE EARTH’S NEWBORN KING,

WE COULDN’T CONTAIN IT,
AND WE DIDN’T TRY,
WE SANG HALLELUJAH,
AND LIT UP THE SKY.

WE SANG FOR THE PEASANTS,
WE SANG FOR THE KINGS
WE SANG FOR THE PEACE
OF THE EARTH’S LIVING THINGS.

WE SANG FOR THE MAKER,
OF COSMOS AND QUARKS,
AND ALL OF THE SHEPHERDS,
AND THEIR TENDER HEARTS.

The way the sun hits in the morning,
The way the stars twinkle at night,
Make you know it’s the season,
That makes your toes freezing,
And button your coat up real tight.

The way the snow sticks on your eyebrows,
And bell ringers wish you good cheer,
Make you feel like the earth,
Stops to ponder His birth,
And reminds us that Jesus came here.

The First Day of Advent

Good morning children far and wide,
I hope that you remember,
The Christmas Spirit came last night,
This first day of December.
*****
I have a little task for you;
It’s not a big assignment.
It’s just that on the Yule tide month,
Our spirit needs alignment.
*****
All hearts that have been given much,
And those who have no lack,
Need to turn the giver switch,
and learn to give it back.
*****
There are many ways to do this.
And I’m sure you’ll fine a way,
To do a deed to bless someone,
Starting with today.

Love

Elfie is here!

Tomorrow morning before the day gets busy, before you start doing ordinary things like brushing your teeth and tying your sneakers Elfie will be here.  There will be a message waiting just for you.  Read it and remember that this is the season of advent and wonder. It is December the first.

Christmas eve

Dear girls and boys around the world,
It's a pleasure that I have been able,
To remind you each day of the heavenly way,
And the love of the babe in the stable.

It's hard to believe that its Christmas Eve,
Farewell now and God be with you,
I'm off now and breezin' till next Christmas season,
Merry Christmas to you and adieu.
I wish that I could google earth,
And click way back in history,
Then zoom a cave in Bethlehem,
To catch a little mystery.
*

God came to earth to be with us,
And yet he was a baby,
He felt the cold and prickly hay,
And even threw up - maybe.
*

I'd like to see the shepherds come,
And angels light the sky,
I'd like to watch his mother,
Sing a Christmas lullaby.

Friends like snowflakes

Good morning to Laura and Heidi and George,
Good morning to Silas and James,
Good morning Emilia and Lainie and Sky,
And to Zachary dear, a big "Hi".

And then there is Anya, Olivia, Kate,
And Kelly and Jonah and Paige,
Taylor and Gabri and Brendon and Jed,
And to all kids no matter what age,

Maddie and Sarah and Chloe and Luke,
McKenzie and Tucker and Jack,
Caleb and Emmy and Conner and Ben,
And Tucker and Ethan and Mack.

Glad tidings to Larkin and Lilly and Jess,
Everlea, Carrie and Tom,
Lets spread the good cheer for the rest of the year,
And give a big hug to your mom.

My energy's mounting as names I am counting,
You all are just warming my heart,
And you just never know with this ice and the snow,
What a mess of big puddles I"ll start.

Daniella and Ryan, Kiera and Tim,
Carrigan, Lexie and Lee,
Joe, Caledonia, Ian and Art,
Are all very special to me.

I'd like to keep going like flakes when it's snowing,
And name all my friends on the earth,
But I must move on before starlight is gone.
And spread all the joy and the mirth.

So carry on Peter and Julia and Dave,
Carry on and you'll always hear it,
It's a song in your heart that will never depart,
It's all part of the Christmas Spirit.

The twinkling of the starlight,
The shining of the moon,
I love the lights of outer space,
I love to hear it's tune.

For angels fly in light years,
We ride the lights of time,
And it might take two thousand years,
To make a little rhyme.

I stood there by the shepherds,
And sang with all my might,
Then flew right back to Cozeytown,
To sing with you tonight.

Love...

The carpenter's son

Joseph was a carpenter,
He probably fixed the manger,
And made it strong and sturdy,
For their brand new little stranger.

He knew just how to insulate,
His clever hands were able,
To place the hay to keep away,
The cold winds of the stable.

I'm glad God picked a carpenter,
To care for his own son,
He knew there'd be alot to do,
And he would get it done.

Why don't you draw a picture,
With details of the manger?
Let's see how you would make the bed,
To keep that boy from danger!
