Joseph, kind and brave and good,
Beneath the starlight humbly stood,
And cradled snug beneath his cloak,
The baby stirred and then He woke.
A longing stirred deep in his heart,
He had a job that he must start,
And so he sang a few sweet psalms,
And God was sleeping in his arms.
